ABOUT STEVE THOMAS

My name is Steve Thomas and I have a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport Science, specialising in sports physiology, sports psychology, and sports biomechanics. My education was intense, highly scientific, but delivered a comprehensive knowledge of the total internal and external workings of the human body. Having graduated, and despite the sobering realisation that absolutely no-one in the outside world had even heard of sport science, I moved to London to tackle the fitness industry head on.

MY NEW BOOK

I am really delighted to announce the launch of my new book. It’s a book that I am really proud of. It has been a culmination of nearly 40 years and over 100,000 one-to-one personal training sessions, and much blood, sweat and tears. Before I tell you what this book is, I want to tell you what this book is not – it is not another celebrity endorsed book from a self-proclaimed exercise guru, giving my slant, my thoughts, my opinions, on all things health and fitness and exercise.

EVERYONE IS GETTING IT WRONG

As an Elite Personal Trainer for nearly 40 years, I have witnessed first-hand a booming exercise and fitness culture. We have been bombarded with a plethora of exercise choices, from the humble traditional aerobic classes and gym routines of the 1980’s to the more modern high intensity interval training, cross-fit, bootcamps, military training, boxing, spinning classes, Pilates, or yoga. What choices have you made, and why have you made those choices?

COMMON MISTAKES

You have probably heard by now, me saying that we are all exercising incorrectly, so let’s start exploring this controversial statement, and explaining why. There are so many exercises, positions, and movements that are embedded in our exercising culture – exercises that we are loyal to, exercises that we have all done thousands of times, believing that they are fundamental exercises that we must do.
