My New Book

I am really delighted to announce the launch of my new book. It’s a book that I am really proud of. It has been a culmination of nearly 40 years and over 100,000 one-to-one personal training sessions, and much blood, sweat and tears. Before I tell you what this book is, I want to tell you what this book is not – it is not another celebrity endorsed book from a self-proclaimed exercise guru, giving my slant, my thoughts, my opinions, on all thing’s health and fitness and exercise. I truly believe that it is so much more than that. I really hope and I believe that it is a game changer. It’s a book that I really believe I had a duty to write.

During the last 40 years I have seen so much that has changed. In fact the whole world of exercise has changed immeasurably, it has been booming for decades. It has gone from uncertain hesitant beginnings of the 1980’s and exploded into $100 billion global industry with gyms and health clubs on every high street in every city in the world, and hundreds of millions of exercising disciples around the world.

However, I am here to tell you that, every one of us, every one of you, is still getting it wrong. Yes, every one of you. I know that this sounds controversial, but this book explains what you are doing wrong, it explains all the vital components, the exercises that you are completely missing out on, and it explains how and why you must modify so many traditional exercises – exercises that we have all done a million times.

But why are we still getting it wrong – the truth is that the exercising world has been driven by individuals, actors, actresses, tv personalities, celebrities, ex-sports stars, self-proclaimed social media gurus and even many Personal Trainers, who are simply not sufficiently qualified to be giving such advice. They are not scientifically trained. As a Sport scientist I have always seen things differently, done things differently, and operated differently, and I can honestly tell you that the world of exercise really does need a re-boot.

So, I am proud of what I have written, but I am mainly proud of why I have written it. It’s a book, a message, a campaign that I truly believe is necessary. To have worked with the type of clients that I have over the years, I have had to operate with total discretion, and almost anonymity, but I simply cannot stay quiet any longer. I must speak out, I have really felt a sense of duty, a responsibility to change the way everyone looks at exercise, and how everyone makes their exercise choices. It really is time to set the record straight, and that is exactly what this book does.

It explains whether you should walk, jog, run, cycle, row, or swim, whether you should do high intensity interval training, whether you should lift heavy or lighter weights, whether you should part take in the plethora of different exercise classes – all the different options that are available these days. It will explain why your back, knees, hips, neck, or shoulders, hurt every time you do certain exercises. It will show you so many elements that you have never seen before. This book has been written from the heart. It has been written to give back to an industry that has given me a wonderful career. and it has been my lifelong work. It has been written as a genuine attempt to change the world of exercise, but I simply cannot do it alone, I really need your help to spread the word.
